Who We Are
Project Le Monde is a UK-based charity working to improve access to education and create better opportunities for children in Uganda.
Since our journey began in 2010, we have worked closely with local communities to help build and develop schools, improve learning environments and support projects that make a lasting difference to children and their families. What started with helping to complete a small school outside Kampala has grown into a long-term commitment to education in Uganda.
Our approach is simple: work together, listen to local communities and support projects where they can have the greatest impact. Through the generosity of our supporters, volunteers and partners, we help fund classrooms, school facilities, food programmes and other essentials that allow children to learn, grow and look towards a brighter future.

JUN 2010
Where it all began
A chance meeting in a local gym led Mark Lynch to Uganda, where he met a group of village elders who were trying to complete a school near Kampala. Within days, building materials were being delivered and what began as a spontaneous offer to help quickly became something much bigger.

SEPT 2010
Project Le Monde is founded
On returning to the UK, Mark and Anne decided to turn that first project into a charity. Project Le Monde was established with a simple aim: to improve access to education by working directly with communities in Uganda to build schools, provide resources and create lasting opportunities for children.

OCT 2011
Our first school project begins
Work began on Project Le Monde’s first school, Joy Nursery & Primary School, with the foundations laid for its first classroom block. From those beginnings, the school developed into a much larger campus with classrooms, accommodation, a library, water facilities and a dental centre.

OCT 2013
A new project in Namakoko
PLM identified a rural community in Namakoko where children were being taught beneath a tree and access to formal education was extremely limited. Land was purchased and fundraising began for what would become Radnor House School, supported by Radnor House in the UK.

JAN 2016
Radnor House, Namakoko opens
After several years of fundraising and construction, Radnor House in Namakoko officially opened. Permanent classrooms transformed the learning environment and the school continued to expand, eventually providing education for around 400 children in the surrounding rural community.

MAR 2016
Positive Women
PLM's work extended beyond the classroom. Anne Lotter and filmmaker Bex Devaraj spent time with six women living with HIV in one of Kampala’s poorest communities, creating the documentary Positive Women - Heartache, Hope & Living with HIV.

OCT 2019
Partnerships in action
A group of sixth-form students from Radnor House in the UK travelled to Namakoko with Inspire Worldwide for a five-day visit. Working alongside local builders, they helped create a kitchen garden, build a shelter for the school guard and develop a more fuel-efficient outdoor cooking area - strengthening the relationship between the UK and Ugandan school communities.

DEC 2020
A new chapter begins in Mpigi
Support from One World Oxted helped Project Le Monde move forward with an ambitious new project in Mpigi. Plans developed for a new school on a two-acre site, serving a community where hundreds of primary-aged children had no local formal school to attend.

JAN 2022
Clean water for Mpigi
A safe drinking-water system was installed in the Mpigi community with support from One World Oxted. The new supply gave local families much easier access to clean water and represented another important step in developing the site for the community.
